I am not much of a traveler but I know that we need to take care of our passport and boarding pass during our flight. Most of us are so excited about our traveling plans that we post pictures online of our boarding pass and leave them behind when we land on our seats.
We think that throwing it away or posting pictures of it can cause no harm as it contains obvious information like our name, destination, gate number etc.
A forensic expert, Winston Krone claims that the boarding pass has a bar code on it that has the passengers personal information like their names, address, email address and contact number. A hacker can easily gain access to it through this bar code.
Once a bar code reader is used on the bar code the information of the passenger is revealed on the screen and that can be used by thieves and other wrong people.
So as a safety precaution, before throwing away the boarding pass tear it into pieces. So no one gets access to that bar code.
With the technology today it is not safe to post pictures online as well. Pleas watch the video posted below aswell.
