An 8 Year Old With A Fatal Disease Takes Part In Triathlons’ To Stay Alive!

When the eight year old school going boy, Jake Vella from Malta was diagnosed with ROHHAD (rapid-onset obesity with hypothalamic dysregulation, hypoventilation and autonomic dysregulation). This medical condition causes Jake to keep putting on weight despite his strenuous efforts to exercise and eating right.

ROHHAD normally affects the nervous system of people who suffer from it. Other symptoms of this disease include slow heartbeat, extreme sweating, altered pupil reaction to light and it also causes water imbalance in the body.

Doctors also have said that it is uncertain how long Jake will be able to live as people who suffer from this disease usually couldn’t go pass the age of 20.

Jake is a fighter and he is fighting against this disease by taking part in triathlons with his coach, Matt Azzopardi.

His mother and coach has nothing but kind words for this little fighter. Jake hopes to stay as active as he could.

We really wish that Jake successfully combat with this disease and prove his doctors wrong.
